WIRED to Ad Blockers: Whitelist Us or Pay Up

Last week WIRED announced a bold plan to block ad blockers and to hopefully convert WIRED.com readers into paying customers. WIRED will offer ad blocker users two options: 1) whitelist the website so ads can be shown, or 2) subscribe to an ad-free version of WIRED.com for $3.99 a month, or $1 a week. For those who choose the whitelist option, WIRED promises to keep the ads “polite” and will only present standard display ads.

WWE Boasts Strong Q4 Financials and Record Revenue for 2015

Last week WWE reported its fourth quarter and year end 2015 financials, touting a strong quarter and record revenue for the year. While WWE (NYSE: WWE) posted a $1.2 million loss for the quarter, it ended 2015 in the black with net income of $24.1 million, a significant improvement over its $30.1 million loss for the year 2014.

Opera Apps Club Launches Subscription Service for Premium Android Downloads

Last week Opera announced the global launch of Opera Apps Club, a subscription-based “all you can download” service for premium Android apps. Newsweek (Partially) Brings Down Paywall, Making Most Content Free

Last week Newsweek brought down its paywall, making most of its content, including web stories and cover stories, free. The site still has a metered paywall, but only magazine stories are counted against the five-article limit. World of Warcraft Movie Could Attract a New Wave of Subscribers

LinkedIn Stock Plunges after 2015 Q4 and Year-End Results Announced
