Red Hat Posts Subscription Revenue of $543 Million for Q3 2017

Last week Red Hat, Inc. (NYSE: RHT), a leading provider of open source and enterprise IT solutions, reported its third quarter results for the fiscal year 2017 ended November 30, 2016, posting total Q3 revenue of $615 million, an 18 percent increase and total subscription revenue of $543 million, a 19 percent increase year-over-year. Amazon Leases 40 Jets, Tests Drones to Meet Demand from Prime Members

In August, Amazon unveiled its first Prime Air cargo jet, a Boeing 767, as part of its new fleet of planes that will help online retailer Amazon meet its two-day shipping promise to Prime members, reports Recode. That fleet now includes 40 jets leased by Amazon.com, says Reuters in a new report. According to the report, the cargo planes are flying with nearly-full, lightweight loads to at least 10 U.S. airports including Seattle, Tampa and Charlotte. The cargo is then unloaded and distributed from nearby fulfillment centers and warehouses to Amazon customers. The report also said that because of Amazon’s new planes, it is eating into business from FedExp and UPS. Amazon can now fly larger items, particularly bulky items, in its own planes.

Owner of Ashley Madison Adultery Site to Pay $1.7 Million Settlement

Toronto-based ruby Corp, the owner of the privately-held Ashley Madison adultery site, has agreed to pay a $1.7 million penalty following the completion of an investigation by the Federal Trade Commission and a coalition of 13 states and the District of Columbia that shows the company deceived consumers and failed to protect 36 million users’ accounts and profile information in a massive data breach in July 2015.

Evernote Retracts New Privacy Policy After Customers Threaten to Leave

You win some, you lose some. That’s what Evernote said after publishing a new privacy policy last Tuesday that inspired a media storm and subsequent ire by users of the note-taking app. Many took to Twitter to express their outrage, threatening to uninstall the app and move their notes to rival services. Vanity Fair Adds 13,000 New Subscribers After Angry Donald Trump Tweet

President-Elect Donald Trump’s attacks against specific media organizations seem to be having the opposite of his intended effect. Rather than proving they are as unpopular as Trump claims, magazines like Vanity Fair are seeing big increases in new subscribers. In fact, within 24 hours of a Donald Trump (@realDonaldTrump) tweet that Vanity Fair magazine was ‘way down, big trouble, dead!’ the magazine added 13,000 new subscribers, the highest number of subscriptions sold in a single day at publisher Conde Nast, reports Poynter.

Weight Watchers Now Offers Apple Watch OnlinePlus Subscription Plans

Last Thursday Weight Watchers International (NYSE: WTW) announced a new subscription plan that pairs a new Apple Watch Series 2 with a Weight Watchers OnlinePlus membership. After an initial payment of $99.95, members pay $8.07 per week, or $34.95 a month, for the next 12 months. An OnlinePlus membership without the Apple Watch is $3.30 per week for a 3-month plan or $4.84 per week for a 1-month plan.The benefit to members is that they get all of the features of Weight Watchers’ OnlinePlus program, but with personalized, portable tools via the Apple Watch and the OnlinePlus app.
