ServiceNow Reports $344.6 Million in Subscription Revenue for Q4

Cloud computing company ServiceNow (NYSE: NOW) reported a strong fourth quarter for fiscal year 2016 with subscription revenue of $344.6 million, which represents 41 percent growth year-over-year, and total revenue of $387.5 million, which represents 35 percent growth year-over-year. For the full year, ServiceNow reported subscription revenue of $1.2 billion, representing 44 percent growth year-over-year, and total revenue of $1.40 billion, representing 38 percent growth year-over-year.

Amazon Launches STEM Club Toy Subscription for Kids 3 to 13

Last week Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) launched a STEM Club Toy subscription for kids aged three to 13, reports Engadget. The new Amazon subscription delivers curated, high-quality toys centered around STEM learning: Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. For $19.99 a month plus tax, parents no longer need to guess what types of STEM-related toys are ideal for their child’s age.

Microsoft Reports $24.1 Billion in Revenue for Q2 FY17

Last week Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ: MSFT), the third largest publicly-traded company in the world, reported financials for the period ended December 31, 2016, the company’s second quarter of fiscal year 2017. The company reported revenue of $24.1 billion (GAAP), a slight increase over revenue of $23.8 billion reported for the same period last year. Other highlights for Q2 of fiscal year 2017 include operating income of $6.2 billion (GAAP), net income of $5.2 billion (GAAP) and diluted earnings per share of $0.66 (GAAP).

Restaurant Food Delivery Service Deliveroo Tries Subscriptions in U.K.

Deliveroo, a restaurant food delivery company, is giving restaurant food delivery subscriptions a try in the U.K., starting with Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Brighton and York, reports TechCrunch. During the two-month trial period, existing customers can try the Deliveroo Plus subscription service for free, waiving its usual £2.50 fee per delivery. After the trial, Deliveroo Plus subscriptions will be available for £8.99 per month, or £89 per year.

Meredith Reports Record Earnings of $1.58 Per Share for Q2 of FY 2017

Yesterday Meredith Corp. (NYSE: MDP) reported record earnings of $1.58 per share, the highest in company history, for the second quarter of its fiscal year 2017. This figure is more than double the $0.72 earnings per share declared for the same period in the previous year. Other second quarter highlights for fiscal year 2017 include total company revenue of $443 million and total advertising revenue of $267, both all-time quarterly highs.

Nintendo to Launch Online Subscription Service for Its New Switch Console

Nintendo recently announced its plans to launch an online subscription service for its new Switch console this fall. The service will allow Nintendo Switch players to enjoy multiplayer gaming online and a smartphone app that connects to the Switch system so players can connected with their friends. A free, limited version of the app will be available this summer. It will allow players to invite friends to play online, set play dates and chat with friends during online play in compatible games.

Autodesk’s EAGLE PCB Design Software Available by Subscription Only

In a recent blog post titled “The new EAGLE Subscription has landed,” Autodesk announced that its EAGLE PCB design software product will no longer be available on a standard, pay-up-front licensing model. After 25 years, EAGLE is now only available with a monthly or yearly subscription, unless you are a student. Students can get free software for three years from Autodesk’s Education Community.

Netflix Marks 10-Year Anniversary with 7.05 Million New Subscribers

Last week Netflix (NASDAQ: NFLX) announced its fourth quarter 2016 results, marking its 10-year anniversary of online streaming video with 7.05 million net new members and $2.4 billion in global streaming revenue, a 41 percent increase year-over-year. Other highlights include operating profit of $154 million, $67 million of net income and earnings of $0.15 per share. Operational highlights include newly launched offline viewing and integration with Comcast through its X1 set-top boxes.
