Delta Launches Membership Program for Private Air Travel

On Wednesday, Delta Air Lines (NYSE: DAL) joined the ranks of companies trying to attract high-end clients with private jet travel memberships. Delta Air Lines’ subsidiary, Delta Private Jets, is now offering a Sky Access online membership program which gives flyers unlimited access to empty leg flights and fixed hourly rate private jet travel, reports the Cincinnati Business Journal.

BMW, Mercedes and Porsche: Revved Up for Subscriptions

Car subscriptions have been growing in popularity over the last year or so, with many auto makers getting in on the action including Hyundai, Cadillac, Ford, Lincoln and Volvo, to name a few. Denver Post Puts Up Paywall and Moves Out of Pricey Downtown Digs

The Denver Post is the latest newspaper to put up a paywall. Effective yesterday, readers must pay $11.99 a month to get online access to more than a handful of stories, reports the Denver Business Journal. The Post has not yet specified the number of stories in its per-month threshold. In the past, The Post only charged a subscription fee for the print version of the paper. Some content will remain free like the site’s marijuana-related sister site, The Cannabist, and its entertainment site, The Know.

SiriusXM Launches New Personalized, Smart Content Listening Experience

If you were craving a more personalized satellite radio experience, SiriusXM heard you. Yesterday SiriusXM and FCA US LLC announced they were launching the next generation of in-car audio entertainment, complete with a personalized listening experience with more variety, smart content recommendations and on-demand radio. Facebook Makes Major Changes to News Feed to Focus on Personal Posts

Last week Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the social media platform will be making major changes to its news feed, focusing more on personal posts from friends and family and less on public content like news posts. According to Zuckerberg’s post, the company has done research that shows that connecting with each other strengthens our relationships, improving our well-being and happiness, but reading articles and watching videos ‘may not be as good.’ Content from businesses, brands and media will be featured less prominently.

eHarmony to Pay More than $2 Million to Settle California Claims

Apparently, breaking up is hard to do, or at least expensive to do. eHarmony has been ordered to pay more than $2 million to settle a consumer protection lawsuit filed in California by four separate counties and the city of Santa Monica. According to Crowell & Moring’s Retail & Consumer Products Law Observer, eHarmony will pay up to $1 million to consumers who were enrolled in the company’s automatic subscription program between March 10, 2012 and December 13, 2016. eHarmony will pay an additional $1.28 million in civil penalties to the municipalities who sued eHarmony.

Hulu Grows to 17 Million Paid Subscribers, a 40 Percent Increase

Hulu kicked off the New Year with a big announcement. The Netflix streaming video rival has grown to 17 million total subscribers at the end of 2017. This figure includes subscribers to its on-demand subscription services and live TV plans in the U.S. This is an increase of 5 million subscribers, or 40 percent, over 2016. Hulu said it now has an audience of approximately 54 million total unique viewers. By comparison, at the end of the third quarter, Netflix had 104.02 million paid members.
