Last week JDM Accessory Vault launched a fashion subscription service for men to offer affordable fashion accessories for upcoming young professionals. For less than $20 a month, subscribers receive three to five curated, matched male fashion accessories including watches, sunglasses, silk ties, pocket squares, belts, socks, scarves, cuff links and more to complete business, business casual and casual looks.

The service launched with a back-to-school special for college students at $19.99 a month with a goal of helping recent graduates land jobs by dressing the part.

“It wasn’t too long ago we were fighting for jobs after college,” said co-founder Jason Gammon. “Standing out from the crowd with a positive professional image makes a huge difference. Now we’re passing on how to do that through our subscription service.

During college, Gammon worked at Nordstrom where he learned about fashion and was inspired to help shoppers explore their personal style through clothes and accessories. His co-founder, Daniel Guerzon, is an educator and photographer. He has combined those two passions to help JMD Accessory Vault in developing its brand.

“A college degree is a good start, but to really stand out, grads need to bring more than a piece of paper,” said Guerzon.

In a press release, Gammon said the secret to setting yourself apart is to pay attention to the little details, and fashion accessories like silk ties, cuff links and watches are a cost effective way to do that. In addition to the subscription items in each month’s selection, that are the subscriber’s to keep, JMD Accessory Vault offers tips and photos on Facebook and Instagram to help men “learn how to up your game” and get noticed.

There are other men’s fashion subscription boxes available, but none seem to offer the same product mix. Most other boxes like Birchbox for Men offer a mix of accessories, gadgets and grooming products, or are dedicated specifically to clothing like Trunk Club. JDM Accessory Vault seems to be “first to market” on this particular trend.

Insider Take:

With more than 3,000 subscription boxes on the market, it is a wonder that there are niches remaining to be filled – but JMD Vault seems to have done it. They found a very specific market – young professional men – and they designed a product specifically for them, and they did so at a very affordable price point. As a subscription box start-up, their success will depend on the marketing and execution of their product, including curation and customer service, and being better than competitors who may jump on the men’s fashion accessory bandwagon soon.
