Subscription News: SereneBook

A new kind of subscription service is launching next month in New York and Los Angeles – SereneBook, a wellness-based service that helps users transform their health, mind, body and spirit. For $150 a month, subscribers book three in-person or virtual sessions monthly with established wellness alternative healers and holistic practitioners using the SereneBook platform, says Vogue.

SereneBook will offer hundreds of session types like energy healing, herbal remedies, meditation, yoga, acupuncture, organic dentistry, astrology and sensory work from more than 1,500 practitioners who have been vetted by SereneBook. Users can find practitioners through intentions or by session type.

According to Vogue, SereneBook was started by Tegan Bukowski, Jordan Daly and Millana Snow. Bukowski and Daly are yoga and meditation instructors, while Snow is a reiki healer. This team has already experienced success creating a wellness community via Serene Social which has hosted wellness events in New York, London and L.A. In New York, for example, Serene Social hosted rooftop yoga at the James Hotel, Penthouse Yoga at the Skylark, and consciousness and wellness programming at Soho House NYC.

“We want to push the conversation and open this industry to a larger group of people so that this becomes as normal as signing up for a health-insurance policy,” Snow told Vogue. “Holism is such a necessary way to approach your health.”

Subscribers who aren’t sure where to begin or who want recommendations can reach out to the site’s ambassadors or view user ratings on the site.

On the SereneBook website, the founders describe their purpose.

“Wellness is a journey! SereneBook is subscription based because we want you to actively engage in your health every single month.”

Initially, the service will be available in New York and Los Angeles, followed by London. The company hopes to expand throughout the U.S. and Europe. Subscribers can enroll now, but they can’t begin sessions until SereneBook officially launches in January.

What’s next? Besides expanding into new cities, SereneBook is also planning version 2.0 to launch in 2017. The updated platform will include new features including a calendar sync function, the ability for practitioners to offer products, retreats and other items for sale, and curated products selected by SereneBook.

Insider Take:

With experience in the health and wellness space through Serene Social, the founders have had success with 20+ events in three major cities, so they know their audience well. With SereneBook, they can grow their audience base while bringing subscribers and practitioners together in one place. SereneBook is expanding opportunities for subscribers to experience other types of sessions and choose their own self-care from a broad list of sessions, services and modalities.

We love that the founders started with a community, expanded to live events and eventually grew into a subscription-based service to better leverage and monetize their expertise. SereneBook is continuing along that path with beta testing and by limiting the service to three cities. At the same time, they are already looking to what’s next – more cities and SereneBook 2.0.

Oh, and the timing of the launch is genius. So many of us are already thinking about changes we want to make in the New Year, so this is the ideal time to reach potential subscribers.
