Wal-Mart Takes On Amazon with New, Unlimited Shipping Subscription Service

Two of the world’s largest retailers will square off soon as Wal-Mart tests a new subscription service for unlimited three-day shipping. If Wal-Mart’s experiment is successful, its unlimited shipping service will compete directly with Amazon Prime. Wal-Mart will test its new unlimited shipping service this summer for $50/year, about half what Amazon Prime charges. Advertisers Go Mobile: Mobile Ad Spending Up 76% in 2014

Last year Internet advertising revenue in the U.S. totaled $49.45 billion, a 16% increase over 2013 spending, according to the Interactive Advertising Bureau’s April 2015 report. NY Times Abandons Subscriptions for NYT Now, Making App Free

The New York Times has abandoned subscriptions for its iOS app, NYT Now, just a year after its launch, making the updated app, NYT Now 2.0, free. Spotify’s Ad Revenue Soars, Launches New Features for Advertisers

The first quarter of 2015 was a big hit for streaming music service Spotify. PayPal Promises to Expand Buyer Protection to Digital Purchases

Last week PayPal announced its plans to expand its “global purchase protection” beyond tangible goods to include digital products and services including music, books, games, tickets, and software downloads, says Internet Retailer Magazine.
