We’ve previously highlighted renewal reminders from Carbonite, but their latest iteration deserves recognition again. First, Carbonite now reminds subscribers how many files s/he has with the company, thereby making renewal more of a “need” than a “want.” We wished that number had been bigger and up top, but the company does make great use of the pre-header space, thereby making sure that subscribers viewing this email on a mobile device see “Keep your XXX files protected ” right after the sender’s name and subject line.
Also, we like that the notice offers one month free, but places an expiration date on the offer, thereby creating a sense of urgency. Also, research has shown that buttons with supporting copy (copy below the Call-to-Action) get higher conversion rates, so the expiration date and further call-to-action (“Act Now!”) are ideally placed.
