Although I have been studying search engine optimization for years, one tip we presented was a good reminder to anyone with any kind of site – be sure to limit the links on each page of your content to fewer than 100. That includes header, footer, in-story, and navigational links .. all of which add up to high numbers more quickly than you may think.Although search engines don’t give a huge penalty for over 100 links, when there are so many per page to spider, each one counts less.Many subscription sites I have looked at recently have at least dozens of links in their navigation. If they are also then frequently linking from the main body copy, their pages may be approaching or even going over 100 links. So take a quick a quick audit of the internal and external links on your site and their frequency and remember, less might be more.
