The Australian is putting up the first paywall for a general newspaper in Australia, charging AU $2.95 per week for digital access on all its platforms including website and mobile devices.This isn’t the first paywall for Australia though as The Australian Financial Review had the first paywall for a major newspaper in Australia, though it has been considered expensive and subscription growth has been slow.The Australian’s paywall should be up this month and in effect after an initial free trial period.
