Publisher E.W. Scripps rolled out paywalls on two of its newspaper Web sites last month – The (Memphis) Commercial Appeal and The Wichita Falls (Texas) Times Record News.Both sites allow free access to print subscribers and free access to up to 10 articles per month for casual readers. Others will have to pay $9.95 per month for full access to each of the sites.According to NewsandTech.com, “Times Record News is using Press + to govern its subscriber plan, The Commercial Appeal is using software the paper developed in conjunction with Seattle-based Syncronex,Whiz Technologies and business consultant Guy Tasaka.”Scripps is watching the two paywall launches closely to assess acceptance of paid online content.
