The launch of Apple’s Newsstand — an app-like piece of software utilizing Apple’s iCloud service to keep all subscriptions in one place allowing readers to pick up on one device where they left off on another — looks to be encouraging sales of digital subscriptions.Conde Nast reports a 268% increase in subscriptions since the release of Newsstand two weeks ago as part of the new iOS5 operating system. The single-publication sales of its nine magazines offered on iTunes are up 142%, according to Gigaom.Exact Editions tells PaidContent it has experienced a sales increase of about 150 percent for some of its magazines since Newsstand launched. PaidContent also reports that Future, a consumer magazine, has sold more copies in the four days after Newsstand’s release than it did in a typical month before the launch of iOS 5.
