WNBA League Pass to Include 2023 Athletes Unlimited Games

25 Athletes Unlimited Games will be added to the WNBA League Pass streaming platform at no extra cost to subscribers.

WNBA fans got an early Valentine on Tuesday. The WNBA announced that WNBA League Pass, the league’s streaming platform, is adding 25 out of 30 Athletes Unlimited (AU) basketball games for the 2023 season. Subscribers will get access to those games at no additional cost.

“WNBA League Pass is the destination for women’s professional basketball and Athletes Unlimited is just the latest addition to our programming lineup,” said WNBA Chief Growth Officer Colie Edison in a February 14, 2023 announcement.

“We are committed to expanding our direct-to-consumer offering with year-round content, bringing our fans closer to the game they love. With a number of WNBA players set to star in AU’s upcoming season, and with an additional group of talented, young players on AU rosters looking to make their mark, WNBA League Pass provides a terrific platform to further showcase these players and women’s basketball and a great leadup to the upcoming 2023 WNBA season,” Edison added.

WNBA League Pass is WNBA’s live game streaming platform, offering access to live games and on-demand and original programming. Subscribers get access to the following:

WNBA original series including League Pass exclusive Vibin’ with Chloe Jackson
Access to full-length and condensed replays of every game from the 2022 season
Access to highlights and off-the-court content from the 2022 season
On-demand access to hundreds of games from previous seasons (back to 2015)
Live games for all teams (some blackouts and restrictions apply)
Live game DVR
Statistical overlays (toggle on or off)
Multi-game viewing on the web
25 AU games are the latest addition.

WNBA League Pass can be streamed on most devices, including PCs, smartphones, tablets and internet-connected devices.

WNBA League Pass is available in two packages:

After a 7-day free trial, subscribers can purchase an annual pass for $24.99 a year.
Subscribers can also buy a single-game pass for $2.99. With this package, they can stream a live or on-demand game, live game DVR, and statistical overlays.

The 2023 AU season starts this Sunday, February 19 with their first weekly draft. They will tip-off their 2023 season on Thursday, February 23, and play for five weeks, wrapping up their season on March 25. WNBA League Pass will stream 25 of their games. CBS Sports Network will present the remaining five games. Some of those games will also be simulcast by the Women’s Sports Network and Bally Sports regional sports network.

About the WNBA

The WNBA was approved by the NBA Board of Governors on April 24, 1996, and they began playing in June 1992. There are currently 12 teams: Atlanta Dream, Chicago Sky, Connecticut Sun, Indiana Fever, New York Liberty and Washington Mystics in the Eastern Conference and Dallas Wings, Las Vegas Aces, Los Angeles Sparks, Minnesota Lynx, Phoenix Mercury and Seattle Storm in the Western Conference. In the 2022 season, the Las Vegas Aces won their first WNBA championship against the Connecticut Sun. The WNBA draft is Monday, April 10, and the first game of the 2023 season will be Friday, May 19. This will be their 27^th season.

In the last year, we’ve seen mainstream streaming platforms gravitate toward sports to draw in more audiences. Niche streaming services like WNBA League Pass can still be successful by remaining affordable and by continuing to add content. This is a great move by the WNBA and AU to partner and a strategy used by other streaming platforms.
