The mobile television and video streaming industry will hit $10 billion in overall revenues by 2017, according to a recent report by Juniper Research. The report mentions that subscription services will likely see the most growth, especially if they can make their content available across devices, including mobile and (most crucially) tablet devices. In terms of global concentration, the digital video streaming market is most concentrated to North America, Western Europe and Asia. However, Latin America, especially Brazil, will become increasingly important for this industry due to the 2016 Olympics and 2014 World Cup.The report also found that consumers prefer subscription services that allow them to resume playback over multiple devices and enable offline viewing. The growth in the industry also requires providers to be prepared for increased pressure on network capacity, as well as customer support and integrated marketing.
