Walmart Combines Two Memberships in a $120 Annual Bundle
Oct 21, 2026Walmart is offering Walmart+ and Sam's Club Plus together at a substantial discount, hoping that a broader membership will encourage customers to shop more across both businesses.
Walmart has a new offer for customers who shop at both its stores and Sam's Club: a combined membership for $120 a year. Previously, buying Walmart+ and Sam's Club Plus separately cost $218 annually.
Announced October 20, the bundle brings together Walmart's delivery and shopping benefits with Sam's Club warehouse access, rewards and fuel savings. Members also get a choice of ad-supported Peacock Premium or Paramount+ Essential streaming.
For Walmart, the goal is to give households more reasons to shop across both businesses. But the lower price comes with a trade-off. Some customers who previously paid for both memberships will now spend nearly $100 less a year, and Walmart will need to make up that difference elsewhere.
What Members Receive
The combined membership includes Sam's Club warehouse pricing, eligible delivery from both retailers and fuel discounts of 10 cents per gallon at participating locations. In Alabama, fuel savings range from 5 to 10 cents per gallon.
Members also earn 2% Sam's Cash on qualifying purchases, up to $750 annually, and can change their streaming selection every 90 days. Scheduled Walmart deliveries require a minimum $35 order, while Sam's Club deliveries require at least $50. Other restrictions apply.
Most of these benefits were already available through the individual programs. Walmart is bringing them together at a price that makes joining both considerably more attractive.
What Happens to Existing Members?
Walmart has also made provisions for customers who already belong to one or both programs.
Annual Walmart+ members can add Sam's Club Plus for another $22 per year. Standard Sam's Club members can upgrade to Plus for $60 annually and receive Walmart+ as part of the package.
Existing Sam's Club Plus members can activate Walmart+ at no additional charge. Customers already paying for both memberships can link their accounts, with most eligible for a prorated refund on Walmart+.
The accounts remain separate and must be linked to access both sets of benefits. Walmart says the original membership renewal date remains in place. Some customers with discounted or partner-sponsored memberships may face different eligibility requirements.
For many existing members, the transition won't require canceling and starting over. But Walmart is also giving some long-standing customers a significant price reduction, whether or not those customers change their shopping habits.
Walmart hasn't disclosed projections for additional spending or retention under the new offer. The company says the associated costs aren't expected to materially affect its fiscal third-quarter or full-year financial guidance.
Will Customers Spend More?
Walmart and Sam's Club serve different shopping needs. A family might use Walmart for weekly groceries and home delivery, then visit Sam's Club for bulk purchases and household supplies.
Bringing those benefits under one membership could encourage customers to use both retailers more frequently. It could also make the membership more valuable over time, particularly for households that previously used only one of the programs.
Of course, customers may simply enjoy the savings without spending another dollar. Walmart will have to see whether the bundle changes shopping behavior enough to offset the lower membership revenue.
Insider Take
Walmart can afford to think about membership revenue differently from businesses that depend primarily on subscription fees.
A household paying $120 a year for the combined membership may spend thousands more on groceries, household goods and other purchases. Walmart has an opportunity to earn money throughout that relationship, even if it collects less in annual membership fees.
That's a very different calculation for a publisher, software company or membership organization where the subscription itself accounts for most of the revenue. Cutting the price for existing customers can be expensive, particularly when those customers were already willing to pay more.
The treatment of existing members deserves attention, too. Customers have different memberships, renewal dates and benefits, yet Walmart has provided ways for many of them to move into the new package without starting over. A good offer can quickly become frustrating when customers have to cancel, sign up again or sort out what happens to money they've already paid.
The financial risk remains. Walmart may end up collecting less from customers who would have happily paid for both memberships, without gaining additional spending in return. On the other hand, a household that starts using both retailers more often could become considerably more valuable.
For subscription operators considering a similar bundle, the question is how the broader relationship will pay for the discount. Walmart has multiple ways to recover that revenue through customer purchases. Businesses that rely on membership fees need to be much more careful about what they give up and what they can reasonably expect to gain.

Walmart's new bundle includes several paths for existing members, depending on what they already pay for. Account linking, renewal dates, refunds and access to benefits are all part of that transition. For subscription operators introducing a new package, these details can determine whether customers experience the change as an improvement or a headache.
