Meta Adds Monthly Plans as Muse Code Exits Beta

The AI coding tool now starts at $5 a month, pairing a recurring price with usage limits.

Meta is adding monthly subscription plans for Muse Code, its AI coding tool, as the product moves out of beta.

Muse Code helps software developers plan changes, write code, check their work and manage more complex development tasks. It is powered by Meta's Muse Spark 1.2 AI model.

Meta launched Muse Code in beta on August 5. Less than a month later, the company has introduced three paid monthly plans:

• Everyday Usage: $5 per month

• High Usage: $15 per month

• Power Usage: $50 per month

These aren't unlimited subscriptions. The $5 Everyday Usage plan includes a usage allowance of 10 to 50 requests to the AI tool every five hours. High Usage provides three times that level of use, while Power Usage provides 10 times as much.

The higher-priced plans also provide greater access to Meta's latest models and higher usage limits for some features. Power Usage includes early access to some new features.

Muse Spark 1.2 is also available separately through Meta's developer platform, where customers pay based on usage. With Muse Code, Meta is offering another approach: a fixed monthly price for a defined amount of access.

Meta has not disclosed how many people used Muse Code during the beta period or how many it expects to move to the new paid plans.

AI companies are still working out how to price products where the cost of serving a customer can rise with use.

Muse Code sits between two familiar approaches. Customers get a predictable monthly bill, but Meta still limits how much usage is included. That gives customers more certainty about what they will pay while helping Meta keep its own costs from growing without limits.

The $5 entry tier lowers the cost of trying the product while keeping usage capped.

For subscription operators, the useful question is how closely the pricing model matches the economics of the product. Meta is giving customers a predictable monthly bill while keeping its most variable cost, AI usage, within defined limits.
