Angel Guild Doubles to 3 Million Paying Members
Sep 15, 2026Angel says its paid Guild membership and recurring revenue have doubled in just over a year as the values-driven entertainment company builds a relationship with members that extends beyond streaming access.
Angel says its Guild has passed 3 million paying members, double the 1.5 million it reported in August 2025. The company also says recurring membership revenue has doubled over the same period.
The latest milestone is company-reported, but Angel’s public filings show the Guild was already growing quickly earlier this year. The company reported 2.61 million paying members as of June 30, up from 1.31 million a year earlier. Guild revenue reached $90.7 million in the second quarter, up 93.8% year over year.
The Guild is central to Angel’s business. Guild revenue accounted for 81% of the company’s total revenue in the second quarter, according to Angel’s August investor presentation.
Angel describes itself as a values-based media company with an audience-driven model. Guild members can screen and vote on projects and provide direct feedback to filmmakers. Their membership fees also help fund future films and shows.
Angel ties that participation closely to its larger mission, asking members to support filmmakers and stories that reflect the values they want to see represented. The company has also pushed back on being viewed as a faith-only entertainment service, saying just one of its 10 theatrical releases in 2026 is faith-based.
There are familiar subscription benefits too. Guild membership includes full-library access and early releases. Premium members receive movie tickets, while Angel also offers Guild-only livestreams and other member experiences.
Angel sees those real-world experiences as part of the growth model. The company says theatrical releases and in-person events introduce new audiences to Angel titles and can help turn some of those viewers into Guild members.
Angel also makes some programming available without a paid membership. That makes the paid relationship broader than access alone. Members are being asked to pay partly because they want to participate in what Angel creates and support the kind of entertainment they want to see. They can also share free access to selected shows and films with friends and family.
Angel does not say participation alone is driving the growth. In its second-quarter filing, the company said Guild membership benefited from new and exclusive content as well as improvements in marketing and converting Angel app users into paying members.
Insider Take
For many streaming subscriptions, the monthly calculation is simple: did I watch enough to make the payment feel worthwhile?
Angel is adding more to that calculation. Guild members have a voice in what the company considers distributing next, and their payments help support the kind of entertainment they want produced.
The relationship also stretches beyond the screen. Movie tickets and live experiences can bring members into the brand in a different way, while voting and feedback give them a role in what comes next.
For subscription operators outside streaming, the question is just as useful: what gives a customer a reason to stay connected between transactions or renewals?
Three million paying members does not tell us that participation caused Angel’s growth. We don’t know how much voting or member benefits contribute to retention or conversion on their own. The company is also adding content and investing heavily in acquisition and conversion.
What makes Angel worth watching is the structure of the offer. Streaming access is part of the membership. Members also have ways to participate in what comes next and feel connected to what their payments are helping create.

A subscriber may join for one piece of content, an offer or an immediate benefit, but those reasons may not be what earns the renewal. This guide helps operators separate the value that drives acquisition from the value that keeps the relationship worth paying for over time.
