Peacock Will Join YouTube Premium Bundle in Early 2027
Jul 28, 2026Eligible YouTube Premium subscribers in the United States will receive access to ad-supported Peacock Premium beginning in early 2027.
NBCUniversal and YouTube announced the multiyear partnership Monday. The companies described it as Peacock’s largest wholesale distribution agreement to date.
Peacock Premium currently costs $10.99 per month when purchased separately. It will be included with the existing YouTube Premium benefits, which include ad-free YouTube viewing, background play, downloads and YouTube Music.
YouTube Premium currently costs $15.99 per month in the United States. The companies did not say whether pricing will change when Peacock is added.
The companies have not defined which subscribers will be eligible or said whether the offer will apply to family, student and other YouTube Premium plans.
Subscribers will be able to watch Peacock programming within YouTube. That includes Universal films, NBC series and live sports such as the NFL, NBA, Olympics and Premier League.
Peacock Premium will also become available as a separate subscription through YouTube Primetime Channels later this summer. Peacock Premium Plus, the higher-priced plan, has been available through Primetime Channels since late June.
Peacock Expands Through Wholesale Distribution
The agreement gives Peacock access to millions of YouTube Premium subscribers without requiring each customer to purchase a separate Peacock subscription.
Peacock ended the second quarter with 48 million paid subscribers, up from 41 million a year earlier.
Comcast reported $1.9 billion in Media segment revenue related to Peacock during the quarter, compared with $1.2 billion a year earlier. That figure includes advertising, distribution and other Peacock revenue, along with some NBC Sports Network revenue from shared programming. The quarter also included revenue associated with the FIFA World Cup.
Comcast’s definition of a paid Peacock subscriber includes customers who pay directly and customers who receive Peacock through another company.
How those subscribers are counted depends on the distribution agreement. Some are counted after activating Peacock. Others may be counted when Peacock is included in a bundle, even if they haven’t activated the service.
NBCUniversal and YouTube did not disclose how subscribers in the new YouTube Premium bundle will be counted. The companies also did not release the financial terms or explain whether customers will need to activate Peacock before watching.
What the Partnership Adds
For YouTube Premium, the agreement adds television series, films and live sports to a subscription built around ad-free YouTube viewing and music.
For Peacock, it creates a large new wholesale distribution channel. The service can reach millions of YouTube Premium subscribers through an existing paid relationship.
The partnership goes beyond Peacock. It extends NBCUniversal’s distribution agreement with YouTube TV and expands the companies’ work across advertising, technology and live sports. Universal+ and Hayu will also be offered through YouTube Premium in selected international markets.
YouTube said it will share more information about launch dates, international bundles and Peacock upgrade options in the coming months.
Insider Take
YouTube Premium is becoming a broader entertainment subscription.
The addition of Peacock brings traditional television, movies and live sports into the same package as YouTube creators and music. That gives subscribers more visible value under one monthly payment.
For Peacock, access will grow quickly. Usage is a separate question.
Comcast’s reporting rules allow some bundled customers to be counted as paid subscribers when access is provided, even if they haven’t activated the service. That could make future subscriber growth harder to interpret without information about activation and viewing.
The financial value will depend on terms the companies haven’t disclosed. Peacock gains reach, while YouTube retains the primary billing relationship for the bundle. The companies haven’t explained how activation, customer data or upgrades will be handled.
Access can increase quickly. Whether those subscribers watch Peacock and come to value it is the next measure that matters.
