Last week LinkedIn (NYSE: LNKD) announced new premium features to its two consumer subscriptions, Premium Career and Premium Business, in a blog post by Gyanda Sachdeva, senior director or product management. In addition to the new premium features, subscribers will receive unlimited access to LinkedIn Learning and LinkedIn Salary.

Here’s a snapshot of the two plans.

Premium Career subscribers now include personalized insights to LinkedIn Jobs, and the LinkedIn Jobs home page helps job seekers to see their connection at a hiring company, jobs they’d be a top candidate for, and companies that are growing quickly for similar professions. They also have the opportunity to become a Featured Applicant to get to the top of the digital resume pile. These features will help job seekers better position themselves to find the right job for their education, experience and skill set.

Premium Business subscribers also receive unique insights and timely data for more than 450,000 company pages that interest job seekers, and last week LinkedIn added an “enriched” Who’s Viewed My Profile experience. This information is proprietary and can be helpful to small business owners who are hiring as well as professionals doing research on competitors and market trends. Premium Business subscribers can also send and receive up to 15 InMail messages to others on LinkedIn, even if they aren’t connected.

These new premium features complement LinkedIn’s new salary tool, LinkedIn Salary, which was unveiled last November. With this tool, job seekers can access salary ranges for specific job titles in a geographic region without having to input their own salary information. They can filter the results by salary and get additional salary information about open positions.

In addition to these new features, these two subscription plans offer unlimited access to more than 9,000 courses on the LinkedIn Learning platform.

“LinkedIn Premium aims to unlock a deeper, more powerful LinkedIn experience. Whether you’re looking to transform a job opportunity into an offer letter, or to sharpen your industry intel, we’re surfacing these features right at your fingertips to help you more efficiently and effectively drive your career forward in 2017. You can expect even more advanced insights and special feature access to come,” said Sachdeva in the post.

Over the last several years, LinkedIn has tweaked and revamped its subscription offerings, and that is likely to continue with the expertise (and oversight) of Microsoft. LinkedIn currently offers these premium packages:

  • Premium Career plans start as low as $24.99, when billed annually.
  • Premium Business plans start at $47.99, when billed annually.
  • Sales Navigator Professional plans start at $64.99, when billed annually.
  • Recruiter Lite plans start at $99.95, when billed annually. A more robust Recruiter plan is also available.

According to an interview with CIO.com, Sachdeva said that LinkedIn’s focus is growing their business, and the company does not have immediate plans to adjust pricing. LinkedIn wants to add value at the same price, said Sachdeva.

While LinkedIn does not report the total number of premium subscribers, in its third quarter financial report, it reported premium subscription revenue of $162 million, a 17 percent increase over the same period in 2015. Talent Solutions revenue was $623 million, a 24 percent increase year-over-year, and Marketing Solutions revenue was $175 million, a 26 percent increase year-over-year.

Insider Take:

Since Microsoft began the acquisition of LinkedIn last summer, LinkedIn has been making major changes, including a new mobile app, a website redesign and the launch of LinkedIn Learning. With new premium features, LinkedIn can leverage its huge customer base and focus on growing its premium subscription revenue. By adding value without a price increase, this seems like a no brainer for LinkedIn. Ultimately, however, it is up to subscribers to determine if LinkedIn is offering the right mix of products and services at the right price.
