Dell (NYSE: DELL) hopes to make the lives of its business clients easier with the launch of Dell Technologies On Demand. This new set of offerings combines an end-to-end portfolio of consumption-based and as-a-service products that give business clients the flexibility and agility of the cloud, along with the control, performance and predictability of on-premises IT infrastructure.

The multi-cloud world is here and will only grow, which means customers need on-demand and consistent infrastructure that yield predictable outcomes across all of their clouds, data centers and edge locations, said Jeff Clarke, vice chairman, Dell Technologies, in a November 12 news release.

Dell Technologies On Demand makes it possible for organizations to plan, deploy and manage their entire IT footprint. They can choose how they consume and pay for IT solutions that meet their needs with the freedom and flexibility to evolve as their needs change over time, added Clarke.

With the new program, Dell offers flexible payment options and value-added services for a range of Dell products and services. This will allow customer to shift their IT infrastructure costs from one-time capital spending to operational expenses in an intentional way. Payment options include Pay As You Grow, Flex On Demand and Data Center Utility. Value-added services include ProSupport Support Services, ProDeploy Deployment Services and Client & Infrastructure Managed Services.

Dell Technologies benefits customers in three primary ways:

  • Freedom of choice: Customers can select from a range of flexible, consumption-based payment solutions supplemented with value-added support, deployment and managed services. This allows customers to budget for and manage their IT spending and pay for only the technology and services they need.
  • Flexibility: Along with Global Alliances and Solution Provider partners, Dell Technologies On Demand offers a wide range of integrated IT solutions that cover the full infrastructure stack, optimizing for workloads that meet specific needs and objectives.
  • Predictability: Every company needs predictability in terms of cost and performance. Dell Technologies believes their new Dell Technologies On Demand offers that through payment solutions, transparency and performance-optimized technology, making outcomes more predictable.

Dell Technologies partners may resell Dell Technologies On Demand to their own customers, including channel partners already using Dell Financial Services (DFS) as a payment solution.

Sebastian Hebert, EMEA technical director for Shiseido EMEA, commented on how Dells offerings will impact his company.

As Shiseido realizes its vision of becoming the most trusted beauty company in the world, we needed to solve challenges around delivery, system quality and support. We teamed with Dell Technologies to tackle these challenges, implementing Dell Technologies on Demand PC-as-a-Service to drastically change the way we are managing the PC, delivery and imaging. We were able to start small, with just imaging in the factory, but are continuing to grow, all the while saving 25% of our PC budget. Dells PCaaS offering is a perfect partner for us as we move toward a fully automated process, said Hebert.

Insider Take:

As companies like Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure gain market share in the cloud, Dell must compete. With its new Dell Technologies On Demand Services, it seems to be providing the best of all world – flexible payment options, cloud-based and on-prem technology, support and scalable, pay-as-you-go service and technology. This model may not suit all business clients, but there are some that will find this model attractive. Others can still buy the old-fashioned way.
