We love this onboarding email for one big reason — it’s ultra-personal. That’s conveyed not only by the From name of a real live person, but by the fact that it says it was sent from the person’s iPhone!
In his blog post, Chris Hexton of GetVero says that their company has set up a customer support email inbox that allows different members of the company to respond (as appropriate), and that all company principals have access to. That’s what makes brief, personal emails like this possible. While you usually want a formal onboarding message that introduces new subscribers to the depth of your content and services, an additional email from a real company employee — especially someone high up — is sure to go a long way to building that warm and fuzzy relationship that keeps subscribers renewing.
