Carbonite Effectively Uses Supporting Copy Below CTA to Retain Subscribers

In its most recent renewal notice to subscribers, Carbonite uses three best practices. Find out what they are and swipe them for your next

We’ve previously highlighted renewal reminders from Carbonite, but their latest iteration deserves recognition again. First, Carbonite now reminds subscribers how many files s/he has with the company, thereby making renewal more of a “need” than a “want.” We wished that number had been bigger and up top, but the company does make great use of the pre-header space, thereby making sure that subscribers viewing this email on a mobile device see “Keep your XXX files protected…” right after the sender’s name and subject line.

Also, we like that the notice offers one month free, but places an expiration date on the offer, thereby creating a sense of urgency. Also, research has shown that buttons with supporting copy (copy below the Call-to-Action) get higher conversion rates, so the expiration date and further call-to-action (“Act Now!”) are ideally placed.
