E-Book subscriptions services seem to be all the rage.Last week, I wrote about Audiobooks, Scribd and Oyester and their holiday gift subscription offerings. And this week saw the quite launch of Entitle, a subscription eBook service with a twist. While most eBook subscriptions are attempting to re-jigger the Netflix model for readers with streaming, unlimited access, Entitle seems to have picked up on the consumer desire for ownership when it comes to books. So while offering more than 100,000 titles, the service only allows a certain number of downloads a month. For $14.99 a month, subscribers can download two books a month (effectively $7.50 a piece, cheaper than the standard $9.99 or $12.99 price for most one-off eBook sales). The site also offers three books a month for $21.99 and for four books for $27.99 a month.”We’re more similar to Netflix in its DVD days than Netflix in its streaming days,” Batten told Mashable. “Almost a hybrid of a Netflix model with a book-of-the-month model.”Entitle also just raised $5.3 million in Series A funding from a single angel investor. The company currently has 10 people on staff.
